This year’s British Cycling National Road Championships takes place between 21st – 25th June 2023 heads to Redcar and Cleveland who hosts three events that form the National Championships, Time Trial, Circuit Race and finishing off with a Road Race.
This event marks my first time attending and with media accreditation while capturing images for myself but also for FTP Racing. Also this marks my first time attending a British Cycling ran/organised event and only covered 2 events, the Circuit and Road race.
Time Trail
This year’s time trial event had the start and finishing line hosted within the Croft Circuit where the riders then entered the neighbouring roads within North Yorkshire to cover the 13.7km route to cover the required time trail route of either 27.4km or 41.1km distance.
Unfortunately I was not able to attend this event to capture any images or experience this part of the National Championships Road event.

Circuit Race
The costal seaside streets of Redcar hosts the Friday evening Crit (Circuit) race which covers a tight and technical 1.1km route, where riders due to race in anticlockwise direction. Both the Women’s and Men’s National Circuit Race Championships will be 55mins +5 laps.

Road Race
The road race on the Sunday 25th June closes the National Championships with laps round a 18.8km loop, with the women’s doing 7 laps and the men’s completing 10 laps covering 132km / 189km.
